Ofel Typhoon Update – PAGASA Raises Signal No. 2 In These Areas

Here’s an Ofel Typhoon Update from PAGASA.

OFEL TYPHOON UPDATE – These are the areas put under Signal No. 1 and 2 by PAGASA due to the current typhoon.

Ofel intensified into a typhoon with the international name Usagi. It strengthened into a  typhoon before dawn on Wednesday, November 13, and as per the previous update, it may steadily intensify within 24 hours.

Recently, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest about the typhoon posted on 5 PM. As per the update, it threatens Northern Luzon, and more areas were declared in Signal No. 2 and Signal No. 1. As of this writing, Signal No. 2 is the highest hoisted but during the occurrence, it may reach Signal No. 4.

Signal No. 1 (Minimal to minor impacts)

Luzon:

  • Batanes, the rest of Isabela, Quirino, the northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Ambaguio, Solano, Bayombong, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi, Villaverde), Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, and the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao)

Signal No. 2 (Minor to moderate impacts)

Luzon:

  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the northern and eastern portions of Isabela (Maconacon, Divilacan, Palanan, San Pablo, Cabagan, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Tumauini, Ilagan City), and the eastern portion of Apayao (Flora, Luna, Santa Marcela, Pudtol)

According to the forecast, its movement will be west-northwestward to northwestward over the Philippine Sea. It will landfall along the eastern coast of Cagayan or Isabela tomorrow afternoon, November 14.

Ofel will “steadily intensify within 24 hours” and there’s a possibility that it will make landfall during the peak intensity.

As for its intensity, it has maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h. The location of its center at 4 PM was 480 km East of Baler, Aurora.
