Lady Passenger Praised Kind-Hearted Jeepney Driver for Offering Free Pandesal
A lady passenger shared her heartwarming encounter with a kind jeepney driver who offered ‘pandesal’ to them for free.
Recently, Yhe Tatel, a Facebook user, shared her encounter with a kind-hearted jeepney driver. The post immediately spread like wildfire on social media and garnered various reactions from the online community.
In her post, Yhe recalled how she learned to be more mindful when choosing which jeepney to ride. She mentioned how, in the past, she would sometimes end up in a jeep that waited too long to fill up with passengers, which made her late for work.
To avoid this, she now carefully observes whether the jeep will leave immediately or wait for more passengers.
On the morning of her encounter, Yhe got into a jeep with only one other passenger. The jeepney driver, even though it was just the two of them, decided to go ahead and continue the trip, not waiting for more passengers.
Tatel was relieved, as it meant she wouldn’t be late. However, she also felt sorry for the driver, who would likely lose money with such an empty ride. As the journey continued and they were caught in traffic, something unexpected happened.

The driver pulled out a brown paper bag and offered both passengers some pandesal. Yhe was surprised but appreciated the kind gesture. She and the other passenger thanked the driver, who smiled in return.

“Share ko lang kasi it’s not everyday na may ganito akong na wiwitness. Sa araw-araw na pagsakay ko ng jeep papasok sa trabaho natuto na ako na piliing mabuti ang sasakyan kasi minsan nakakasakay ako sa jeep na naghihintay talagang mapuno bago dederetso kaya minsan ito ang dahilan kaya nalililate ako. Kaya ngayon natuto na ako, pinapakiramdaman kong mabuti kung dederetso na ba ang jeep or maghihintay pa ng pasahero kasi sasakay ako sa dederetso na agad. Kaninang umaga nakasakay ako sa jeep na dumeretso na agad kahit dalawa lang kaming sakay niya tapos pareho pa kaming malapit lang bababa so minimum fare lang. Nakakatuwa din naman na dumeretso na yung jeep agad kahit dalawa lang kami kasi hindi ako malililate pero deep inside ay naaawa ako kay kuya driver kasi lugi ang biyahe niya. Deep inside I’m hoping na sana may ma pick up siyang pasahero along the way. Pero habang nasa kalagitnaan kami ng biyahe at mejo traffic so mabagal lang ang takbo ng jeep ay kumuha si kuya ng brown paper bag at inalok kaming dalawang pasahero ng pandesal. Yes, kumakain si kuya ng pandesal at inalok niya pa sa amin. Sabay naman kaming dalawang pasaherong sumagot ng “sige po salamat.” Nakakatuwa lang na ganun yung attitude ni kuya sa mga pasahero niya. Sana safe lagi ang biyahe mo kuya driver at sana ay marami kang kita sa araw-araw na kayod mo sa buhay.”
