Lovi Poe talked about the negative comments she received
Actress Lovi Poe revealed that she received criticism from other people because of her skin color.
Lovi is a showbiz reality as the daughter of Da King Fernando Poe, Jr. Despite her background, she opted not to use her father’s influence in the entertainment industry to establish her name as an actress.
Lovi has proven that she is more than just the daughter of the late FPJ. Aside from acting, she also did some stints in music and now, she ventured into producing as she established her production company.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Lovi Poe recalled that time when she was just starting in showbiz and it was not easy for her. Some of the attacks against her were focused on her skin color.
“When I started in the industry, I received a lot of flak because of my skin color. I was too dark. I remember, when I did my first TV series, they would put a lot of foundation on me to make me look lighter,” she shared.
The actress did not mind these negative comments against her, instead, she learned to accept who she is. She also shared that she was one of those kids who did not like wearing makeup.
Lovi admitted that when she was younger, she had a different definition of beauty compared with what she believes now. She said that the young Lovi had someone she wished she looked like and that was pop star Britney Spears.
However, now, her definition of beauty is from within. She loves seeing those people with an aura of happiness and joy and she finds them beautiful. “We should not forget what makes up unique and different are what will make us shine,” Lovi Poe said.
Speaking of beauty, the actress has a new venture. She recently launched her makeup line called “Love, You by Lovi Poe.” This embraces different skin tones and promotes individuality.
