Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Reacts To House Quad Comm Members’ Disappointment
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President claimed that going to Metro Manila to attend a House hearing will be costly for him and he has no money.
The Senate and the House of Representatives have launched investigations on the war on drugs of the Duterte administration. In the upper chamber, the probe is led by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee while the House Quad Comm spearheads the investigation in the lower chamber.
However, while former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte appeared at the Senate hearing without second thoughts, the former Chief has repeatedly skipped the House Quad Comm hearing. The Senate hearing was presided by Senator Koko Pimentel who claimed that he is no longer a Duterte supporter.
At the Senate inquiry, Duterte has several admissions and revelations. He admitted to ordering the police to encourage their targets to fight back. He also made a claim that a drug den was allegedly raided inside Malacañang.
However, following his Senate hearing attendance, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte once again skipped a hearing set by the House Quad Comm. His lawyer, Attorney Martin Delgra III, said that the former President has “doubts” on the integrity and independence of the House Quad Comm.
The absence of the former Chief Executive at the hearing led to disappointments on the House members. House Quad Comm Rep. Paduano slammed Duterte for not appearing at the hearing and asked if he is afraid.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte stressed that the House members don’t scare him a bit. He stressed that going to Metro Manila would be costly for him and he has no money for it.
“Pera nila? Wala na akong pera eh. Mamasahe ako doon. I am living on my retirement pay. Wala akong extra money sa bangko, lahat sweldo ko yan,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, the former President stressed that he has served as president, mayor, and congressman and he is not scared of the threats of the House members. He stressed that he did not agree to come to the House.
“What is there to say or more to what I have said. Sinabi ko naman lahat,” he said.
Amid the admissions of the former President at the Senate hearing, Pres. Bongbong Marcos refused to comment on Duterte’s remarks.
