Sari-Sari Store Owner Expresses Dismay After Overpayment Not Returned by Grocery Store

OVERPAYMENT ISSUE – A sari-sari store owner was frustrated after an overpayment was not returned by a grocery store.

Recently, Myla Villaceran Gonzales, a Facebook user, shared her frustrating experience on Facebook after discovering that she had accidentally overpaid at a well-known local grocery store. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

Gonzales explained that while shopping, her total bill came to P3,515. Distracted and flustered, she ended up paying P4,500, which included P3,000 in cash and PHP 1,500 in coins she had on hand.

The cashier even requested an additional P15, which she provided. It wasn’t until she got home that she realized she had overpaid by nearly P1,000. The next day, she returned to the grocery store to resolve the issue.

The sari-sari store owner approached the store’s head leader, but they claimed that the cashier’s register did not show any excess. Myla requested a review of the CCTV footage, hoping to confirm the overpayment.

However, the store’s management responded with several excuses and informed her that the footage hadn’t been reviewed. Despite speaking directly with the store owner, Myla felt that the responses she received lacked transparency and accountability.

The incident left Gonzales not only disappointed over the lost money but also disheartened, as she had been a regular customer at the store. Losing both the funds and her trust in a business she frequented made the experience even more upsetting.
