PAGASA: Typhoon Marce Maintains Peak Intensity as It Approaches Cagayan

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (November 7, 2024)

PAGASA – The state weather bureau has reported that Typhoon Marce is maintaining its peak intensity as it moves closer to Cagayan.

On Thursday (November 7, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Marce will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that Typhoon Marce is set to make a landfall over Babuyan Islands as Signal No. 4 remains over two areas.

Marce was last spotted at 200 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 190 kph. It is moving west northwestward at the speed of 15 kph.

“In terms of intensity, it will remain strong or still within the typhoon category. It is now at its peak intensity of around 155 kph. It will slightly weaken while here at the northern tip of mainland Luzon and eventually, upon exiting the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), it will further weaken into a severe tropical storm,” Estareja said.

The typhoon will bring intense to torrential rain over Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte and heavy to intense rain over Batanes, Ilocos Sur, Abra. Kalinga, La Union, Isabela, Mountain Province will experience moderate to heavy rains.

The weather agency has also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to intense rains and severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA also raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and Central Luzon.

Marce is set to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) region tomorrow evening (November 8, 2024) after making a landfall over Babuyan Islands and/or the northern portions of mainland Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Apayao.
