Former U.S. Pres. Barach Obama Congratulates Donald Trump over 2024 Election Win
BARACK OBAMA – The former United States President released a statement congratulating presumptive U.S. President Donald Trump.
Most of the votes in the 2024 U.S. Elections have been counted. This year’s presidential race in U.S. witnessed a close fight between the Democrats’ Kamala Harris and the Republican’s Donald Trump.
Harris, the current vice president of the United States, has already conceded in the presidential race ahead of the end of the counting of all of the votes. Many of the swing states supported Trump.
U.S. Vice Pres. Kamala Harris reportedly called to former U.S. Pres. Donald Trump to concede in the race and congratulat him for his win. Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 elections marks his return to the White House.
Donald Trump is the 45th president of the United States. He is set to become the 47th chief executive of U.S. with his recent win. Four (4) years ago, he refused to accept his election defeat against U.S. Pres. Joe Biden.
The victory of Trump in Wisconsin completed the 270 electoral votes he needs to win the presidency. He got Michigan and Pennsylvania as well. Currently, amid the counting, he already got 295 electoral votes while Harris got 226 electoral votes.
Several known individuals congratulated Donald Trump in his victory. Philippine Pres. Bongbong Marcos congratulated Trump for winning the presidential elections. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron did the same.
Former United States Pres. Barack Obama who supported the presidential bid of U.S. Vice Pres. Kamala Harris also congratulated Donald Trump. Based on a report on GMA News, he admitted that it is not the result that many people hoped for but democracy prevails.
“This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for… But living in a democracy is about recognizing that our point of view won’t always win out, and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power,” former U.S. Pres. Barack Obama said.
Based on the report, the former Chief Executive of U.S. also expressed pride over the efforts of Vice Pres. Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, in the 2024 elections. According to Obama, they are “two extraordinary public servants who ran a remarkable campaign”.
Former Philippine Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte also congratulated Donald Trump for winning the elections.
