Construction Worker Dies After Stabbed by Co-Worker in Cavite
A construction worker in Cavite loses his life after reportedly being stabbed by a co-worker over a salary dispute.
On October 31, 2024, a 22-year-old construction worker named Jayvon Nuevo in Barangay Milagrosa, Carmona, Cavite, was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital after reportedly being stabbed by a co-worker.
Jayvon, a resident of the area, was identified by his family as a hard-working construction laborer.
According to the Carmona police, led by PLtCol. Jack Angog, the incident took place as Jayvon and another man were on their way home from a drinking session. Witnesses reported seeing the two walking together when an argument suddenly broke out.
After a few moments, Jayvon was seen running away, with his co-worker in pursuit. Unfortunately, when Jayvon stumbled, the suspect attacked him, stabbing him multiple times before escaping the scene.
The police investigation revealed that Jayvon suffered twelve stab wounds across different parts of his body. Following the attack, a hot pursuit operation was launched to track down the suspect, who was eventually located in Camarines Norte on November 3, 2024 (Sunday).
Police stated that they received cooperation from the suspect’s relatives, who helped them locate him in his hometown.
Jayvon’s parents shared that a misunderstanding at work, specifically about salary issues, may have been the cause of the dispute. Apparently, Jayvon had been instructed by their foreman to help calculate the wages.
When payment was delayed, tensions rose, leading to anger and resentment from the suspect. The disagreement over wages allegedly fueled the suspect’s anger, ultimately resulting in the incident.
Nuevo’s parents are now pleading for justice, asking authorities to ensure the suspect is held accountable to prevent further incidents. As of now, the suspect is in custody at the Carmona Municipal Police Station and faces murder charges.
