Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Gov’t Response to Impact of Typhoon Kristine
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President expressed his hope that the government “could do more” in response to the impact of severe tropical storm Kristine.
Severe tropical storm Kristine has left several areas in the Philippines devastated. At least 200 towns and 29 cities have declared a State of Calamity due to the impact of the natural calamity.
Albay, Batangas, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Cavite, Catanduanes, Laguna, Sorsogon, and Quezon are among those that have declared a state of calamity. The heavy rains and strong winds have caused deep flooding in these areas.
In Naga, the flood reached roof level in low-lying areas. Former Vice President Leni Robredo who resides in Naga even appealed for pump boats to help the residents who were stuck in their roof amid the flooding.
Former Vice Pres. Robredo soaked in floodwater for several hours to distribute some food to the residents of Naga amid the onslaught of severe tropical storm Kristine. The local government unit of Naga also appealed for vehicles that can cross floodwater between three (3) to six (6) feet deep.
Thousands of Filipinos had to evacuate their houses amid the wrath of Kristine. At least 140 people reportedly died and 91 were injured while 19 are still missing. Many people lost their homes and livelihoods to the calamity.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on the response of the government to the impact of severe tropical storm Kristine. Based on a report on GMA News, the Chief Executive was asked if he is satisfied with how the government responded.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that he is not satisfied with the government response on the impact of severe tropical storm Kristine. According to Marcos Jr., he hopes that the government can do more to help the victims.
“I’ll tell you the truth, it’s never enough… it’s never enough, I wish we could do more… we’re doing everything that we can, when you lose a life, you lose a life… what can you do about it?” the President said.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos described the impacts of Kristine which cost lives as a “terrible tragedy”. The national government assured the victims of help amid the wrath of Kristine.
Recently, presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos expressed her disappointment on PAGASA which allegedly did not give enough warning regarding severe tropical storm Kristine.
