Class Suspensions for Monday (October 28, 2024) Due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine

WALANG PASOK – Various local government units declared class suspensions due to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

On Monday (October 28, 2024), several local government units have suspended classes following the heavy impact of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. The declarations aims to allow for recovery efforts in affected areas.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that the storm has affected over 5.7 million people, including 1.4 million families. The current death toll stands at 100, and thousands of families have sought shelter in evacuation centers or with relatives.

Class Suspensions

The government has placed 158 municipalities and cities under a state of calamity, emphasizing Kristine’s impact. This includes 78 areas in Bicol, with others across CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, and additional regions.

Here is the list of areas affected by class suspensions:

CALABARZON (Region 4A)

  • Batangas:
    • San Luis: All levels, public and private, until October 31 (modular classes only).
    • Talisay: Preschool to Senior High School, public and private, until October 31 (modular classes only).
    • Lemery: All levels, public and private, until October 31.
    • Calaca: All levels, face-to-face classes only, until October 31.
    • Nasugbu: All levels, face-to-face classes only, until October 31.
    • Taal: All levels, public and private, modular classes only.
  • Laguna:
    • Biñan: All levels, public and private.
    • Bay: All levels, public and private.
    • San Pedro: All levels, face-to-face classes only, until October 31.
  • Cavite:
    • Noveleta: All levels, face-to-face classes, public only, until October 30.

Bicol Region (Region 5)

  • Camarines Sur: All levels, public and private, until lifted.

In addition to these local suspensions, recovery efforts continue across other regions as well.
