Leon PH Now Severe Tropical Storm, Signal No. 1 In These Areas

After Kristine, we are now facing Leon PH and here’s an update.

LEON PH is now a Severe Tropical Storm and based on the latest update from PAGASA, these areas are under Signal No. 1.

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine has exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). It battered several parts of the country and one of the hardest hit regions was Bicol Region. Shortly after Kristine, another one came called Leon with the international name Kong-Rey.

According to the 5 PM bulletin from Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Leon has developed already into a severe tropical storm, further intensifies over the Philippine Sea.

Its center is at 725 km East of Echague, Isabela, and has a maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h, gustiness of up to 125 km/h, and central pressure of 980 hPa. Currently, it moves west northwestward at a speed of 15 km/h.

Signal No. 1 is raised in these areas:

LUZON

Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the northern portion of Benguet (Bakun, Kibungan, Atok, Bokod, Mankayan, Buguias, Kabayan), Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands (General Nakar, Infanta, Real), Camarines Norte, the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Tinambac, Siruma, Goa, Lagonoy, San Jose, Garchitorena, Caramoan, Presentacion, Tigaon, Calabanga, Saglay), Catanduanes, the eastern portion of Albay (Rapu-Rapu, Bacacay, City of Tabaco, Tiwi, Malilipot, Malinao, Santo Domingo, Manito), and the northeastern portion of Sorsogon (Prieto Diaz, City of Sorsogon, Gubat)

According to the forecast, it will make a landfall over the eastern coast of Taiwan on Thursday, October 31. It will exit PAR on Friday morning or afternoon.

Moreover, it is expected to rapidly intensify as it moves over the Philippine Sea and may develop into a typhoon within 24 hours.
