PAGASA Says Severe Tropical Storm Kristine to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that severe tropical storm Kristine will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Friday (October 25, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Severe tropical storm Kristine will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Severe Tropical Storm Kristine was spotted at 125 kilometers west northwest of Bacnotan, La Union. It has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 kph.

Kristine is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday afternoon as it moves west northwestward. However, it may re-enter PAR on Sunday as it is expected to loop over the West Philippine Sea October 27, and Monday, October 28, 2024.

“While it is likely that the tropical cyclone will remain a severe tropical storm in the next five days, the chance for it to be upgraded into a typhoon is not ruled out,” PAGASA said.

Severe Tropical Storm Kristine will bring stormy weather over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon. it will also bring rains with gusty winds over the rest of Luzon.

The weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the Northern and Central Luzon will be rough. The rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will have moderate to rough surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA also raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Luzon and the western seaboard of Visayas.
