AFP Says Action of Graduating Cadet To Pres. Marcos “Neither Common nor Acceptable”
AFP – The Armed Forces of the Philippines revealed that the cadet who asked for the watch of President Bongbong Marcos during graduation was punished.
The recent remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos has caught the attention of countless Filipinos. There are even lawmakers who call for psychological assessment of Duterte following her statements.
Duterte claimed that Marcos does not know how to be a president. She even rated the Chief Executive with “one” when asked to rate his performance from 1-10 with 10 as the highest. According to her, she has never heard him talking about his plans to solve the problems of the country and having a platform.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also threatened the Marcoses that she will throw Marcos Sr.’s remains into the West Philippine Sea if the alleged attacks against her won’t stop. She also shared when she allegedly realize that her relationship with the President has become toxic.
According to Vice Pres. Duterte, there was allegedly an instance when they attended a graduation ceremony and one of the graduates asked for the watch of the President. However, the graduate was allegedly left in an awkward situation and two (2) more people laughed at the said request.
Duterte admitted to thinking ill against Marcos saying it was then she realized that their relationship has become toxic. According to the Vice President, she was ready to give her watch to the graduate but it was only a watch of the vice president and not the president.
Recently, the Armed Forces of the Philippines confirmed that there was an instance when one of their graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) asked for the watch of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on GMA News, AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla said that the behavior of the cadet is “neither common nor acceptable”.
According to Padilla, it is an isolated case and the action of the said cadet who asked for the watch of the President “does not reflect the overall culture and training of the academy”.
“It was in a moment of euphoria. He was facing the President and he made a mistake,” the AFP Spokesperson said.
Based on the report, the AFP spokesperson revealed that the cadet who asked for the watch of Pres. Bongbong Marcos was punished for his action. According to Padilla, he was not dismissed but the PMA immediately took action upon learning about the incident and he’s assigned to the Philippine Air Force.
