Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Reacts To Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ Statement on their Friendship
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President reacted to the “deception” remark of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over their friendship.
It is no secret to the public now that Pres. Marcos and Vice Pres. Duterte’s relationship has turned sour. There were several instances already when the highest and the second-highest officials in the government have exchanged remarks that showed their souring ties.
A few months ago, Duterte resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). It sparked the speculations that she and the President may be having an issue. She also totally left the Marcos cabinet.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also expressed regrets in seeking support for Marcos Jr. during the 2022 Elections. At the height of the intensified search operations of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to find Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, she apologized to the KOJC membes for seeking their support for Marcos.
According to VP Sara, she made a mistake for seeking the support of the KOJC members for her then-running mate. She also claimed that she was on a “mistaken belief of the platform of unity and continuity”.
In an interview at the height of the scrutiny of the 2025 budget proposal of the Office of the Vice President, Duterte also claimed that she and Marcos did not really start as friends. Duterte also expressed that she would “never again” team up with the Marcoses.
According to the Vice President, her friend is really presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos. She stressed that she and the President only talked when they became running mates and their conversations were about the campaign and work.
When asked about his reaction, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that he was “a little dismayed” by the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. He also expressed that he was probably deceived on the idea that she does not consider him as a friend.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte admitted her side on the “deception” remark of Pres. Bongbong Marcos regarding their friendship. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that she initially thought of not responding to it anymore.
According to Duterte, he is already the president of the country and his feelings must not be important anymore but it is the people’s feelings that he must be considering. She stressed that he must be having a lot of time to be bothered by one woman.
“Talagang may panahon kang mag-isip sa deception ng isang babae d’yan? Ang dami mong oras,” Duterte said.
Based on the report, the Vice President stressed that Marcos must be focusing on key national issues like hunger, oil prices, and the situations of the Filipinos in the upcoming Christmas celebrations.
Duterte also recently criticized Marcos saying he does not know how to be a president. She rated his performance as the country’s chief executive with “one” in a 1-10 rating with 10 as the highest.
