Pasig Court Denies Quiboloy’s Bid for Hospital Arrest
QUIBOLOY – A Pasig regional trial court has denied the motion to place Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center in Davao City.
The petition, filed in September by Quiboloy’s legal team, cited the KOJC leader’s current medical condition as the basis for the request. Israelito Torreon, Quiboloy’s lead counsel, confirmed the court’s decision during an interview following a pre-trial conference at the Pasig court’s Branch 159.
“We received this morning an order denying it,” Torreon stated.
Despite the denial, the judge offered a potential alternative, allowing Quiboloy to be taken to the PNP General Hospital within Camp Crame if an urgent medical need arises. Torreon clarified that coordination with the Camp Crame Custodial Center’s warden would be necessary for such an arrangement.
According to the report, Torreon expressed his intent to ask the court to reconsider the decision, though no further details were provided about the grounds for the appeal.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, the Philippine National Police (PNP) public information officer, stated that the PNP had yet to receive updates on the court’s proceedings regarding the hospital arrest request. She also declined to disclose the results of a medical examination conducted by the PNP Health Service on Quiboloy. The examination was part of a broader investigation into the charges against him, which include qualified human trafficking and child and sexual abuse cases pending at courts in Pasig and Quezon City.
Quiboloy remains in detention at the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Crame. His arrest took place on September 8 at the KOJC compound in Davao City, and he has been held in custody since then. The legal proceedings continue as his legal team explores their next steps in addressing the court’s ruling on the request for hospital arrest.
