Taxi Driver in Pasay City Passes Away During Altercation at Drive-Thru
A taxi driver in Pasay City lost his life following an intense confrontation at a fast-food drive-thru on Andrews Avenue.
In the video, a taxi is seen following a van in the drive-thru line. Another car attempted to merge into the queue but was blocked by the taxi. It leads to a heated exchange between the taxi driver and the car’s passenger.
The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in pushing and even fistfights despite attempts by bystanders and a security guard to intervene. After a few minutes, the taxi driver attempted to leave the scene but was followed by the other driver.
As he was running away, he suddenly collapsed. It was later revealed that he had been shot by the man he had quarreled with.
According to police, the taxi driver had separated from the initial confrontation but pursued his rival until he encountered him again in front of a nearby hotel. The police chief of Pasay City stated that the taxi driver approached his opponent, who was armed with a knife, leading to a tragic confrontation where the suspect shot him.
The police recovered four empty shells from a .45 caliber firearm at the crime scene, with the victim sustaining three gunshot wounds; one in the head, one in the neck, and another in the thigh.
Initial investigations indicated that the taxi driver was on his way to collect a loan from fellow drivers in the area when the incident happened.
Authorities quickly traced the suspect’s vehicle to Bulacan using its license plate, but the owner claimed the car had not left their premises during the incident. It is suspected that a duplicate plate number may be involved in this case. The police continue to investigate in hopes of apprehending the shooter.
