Aljur Abrenica decided to enter politics
Actor Aljur Abrenica received negative reactions from netizens after he filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor of Angeles City, Pampanga.
Aljur rose to fame after joining the fourth season of the Kapuso talent search StarStruck in 2006. He won the won the “Ultimate Hunk” title in this. From that, he signed a contract with GMA and did some projects.
In 2017, he transferred to ABS-CBN and was given his first lead role in the Kapamilya series Asintado.
Aljur Abrenica has done drama and action projects, and he also did some roles that required him to be sultry. Just recently, he showed that he aspired to portray another role outside the entertainment industry.
The actor filed his COC on Monday, October 7, the sixth day of filing. He will be running under Former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde who filed COC for Angeles City Mayor, based on the report from The Philippine Star.
This was shared on social media and people on Facebook did not like this decision made by the actor. Some netizens questioned his ability to be a public servant while some expressed that politics are not being dominated by showbiz personalities.
From the start of COC filing last October 1, many celebrities have already filed their COC for different positions while some seek re-election. Some opted the local positions while some bravely decided to run for senator.
Netizens also slammed Aljur because of his family issue. Some said that he couldn’t handle his own family but now he is grasping the responsibility of handing a city. It is known to many showbiz fans that the actor faced criticism after his breakup with his estranged wife Kapuso actress Kylie Padilla.
