Justice Undersecretary Margarita Gutierrez emphasized that their achievements serve as an inspiration, showing others that they too have the potential to accomplish great things despite the challenges they face.

The graduates completed their studies through the Alternative Learning System (ALS), a program aimed at providing educational opportunities for people in special circumstances.

The program is part of Quezon City’s “No Woman Left Behind” initiative, which focuses on ensuring that women, even those in detention, have access to education and the chance to build a better future.

Launched by Mayor Joy Belmonte, the initiative provides scholarships to inmates at Quezon City University (QCU), enabling them to pursue their dreams of higher education.

Aside from the college program, the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory also offers Adult Basic Education, High School Equivalency, and creative and recreational activities to improve the well-being and skills of the inmates.
