Recently, a TikTok account “Dragon Fruit Ladies” shared a video of a dedicated teacher crossing a raging river using a tramline just to get to her school. The post quickly spread like wildfire on social media and elicited reactions online.
In the video, the teacher and a companion can be seen riding the tramline over the powerful currents of the river in San Jose, Brgy. Manoot, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro.
Despite the dangers, the teacher, whose identity was not revealed, bravely crossed the river, knowing that the tramline could snap at any moment. The residents in the area rely on this tramline as their only means to travel across the river and reach different sitios, including Sitio Danlog, where the teacher works.
Many netizens admired the teacher’s determination and commitment to her profession. Others, however, expressed concern for the safety of the residents, calling on the local and national governments to provide a safer and more reliable way for people to cross the river.
