Here’s what Chavit Singson felt over his negotiations with Miss Universe.
Wealthy businessman Chavit Singson was asked about the money he signed with Miss Universe and this is what he felt about it.
To recall, it was in 2016 when former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson first dealt with the Miss Universe Organization. This was the time when the country served as a host to the pageant in 2016.
There were rumors before that he was the new owner but in 2022, Thai celebrity media tycoon Anne Jakrajutatip bought the Miss Universe franchise. She is the official new owner of the prestigious beauty pageant.
In 2016, Singson dealt with the organization for the Philippines to host it, and in an interview with Karen Davila, he talked about it.
He recalled that in order to make a deal, he made a non-refundable deposit of $1 million. At first, he was hesitant to do it as it was non-refundable but he pushed it through. The $1 million is for the contract but before the signing in 2016, they asked for more that he pocketed out $12 million.
According to the USD to PHP Exchange Rate Today at Php 55.93, $12 million is Php 671,196,000.00.
As per Davila’s words, “Hindi ka pa kumikita sa Miss Universe. Mahirap mabawi yun.”
She then added, “Pero hindi ba niloko ka lang nila?”
The businessman laughed at this and responded based on the video, “Well, yun ang pakiramdam ko… But after that the most successful ever Miss Universe was in the Philippines.”
In the new vlog of Davila, he toured the Baluarte owned by Singson which houses his lions, tigers, leopards, giraffes, and other animals. She was also able to see inside the Safari Gallery. This is the area where the animals he hunted from different countries were displayed. These animals were preserved by taxidermists for the purpose of display.
