Doc Willie described sarcoma as a rare type of cancer and one of the hardest to treat. The 16-centimeter mass was found behind his heart, in front of his spine. According to him, his doctors said that it cannot be operated as too many blood vessels are connected to it.

The cardiologist is taken cared of by his team of doctors and nurses in Singapore, his wife Dra. Anna Liza Ramoso-Ong, and their daughters. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

According to Doc Willie, he may have five chemotherapy sessions and he just finished his first session. He revealed that the initial signs of his health condition were difficulty in breathing and swallowing which he thought was due to aging.

However, the symptoms persisted until he also felt a persisting pain. He stressed that he felt a 10/10 pain caused by sarcoma. According to the cardiologist, his negative thoughts and feelings from the bashing he got during the election campaign may have caused his health condition as it brought him a lot of stress.

Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Doc Willie’s running-mate, is one of those who talked to the cardiologist amid his cancer battle. Both of them placed 4th in the presidential and vice presidential races in 2022, respectively.

Unfortunately, earlier this month, Doc Willie was in critical condition for 4 days due to neutropenic sepsis. His blood pressure level was down and his White Blood Cells count was also down to zero.

Recently, Jessica Soho was able to talk to Doc Willie Ong. Based on the video posted by GMA Public Affairs, the Kapuso reporter asked the cardiologist about the prognosis of the doctor on his sarcoma cancer.

“Fifty percent to live a few more months, a year. Fifty percent, anytime, baka hindi na huminga. Parang walang kasiguraduhan,” Doc Willie said.

According to Doc Willie, the mass was found “deeply hidden” behind his heart and it is blocking his esophagus thus, it is hard for him to swallow. He rated the pain he felt as “the worst pain” that leaves him and Doc Liza sleepless the whole night.

“Sigaw ako nang sigaw. Hihiyaw ka sa sakit talaga,” the cardiologist said.

Doc Willie Ong stressed that each day is a blessing and he no longer worries about material success and the future. He is grateful that he is being treated in Singapore but also guilty that many people who are battling cancer cannot have the same treatment as the Philippine lacks what Singapore has.

During the interview, Doc Willie said that he already got his PET scan, 2D Echo, CT scan, and even chemotherapy session within 48 hours. He stressed that in the Philippines, you have to wait at least a week.

“Mahina ang Pilipinas, kahit Doc Willie Ong, patay ka pa rin,” he said.
