Former Mayor Alice Guo Faces Non-Bailable Charge
ALICE GUO – The Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 ruled for the transfer of the former Mayor from the Philippine National Police detention facility to Pasig jail.
Former Mayor Guo was arrested in Indonesia after her secret departure from the Philippines in July. The Indonesian authorities located Guo at a rented apartment in Jakarta.
The government of Indonesia abruptly turned over Guo to the Philippine authorities. PNP chief Rommel Francisco Marbil and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos went to Indonesia for her turned over to the Philippine authorities.
Guo was expected to be under the custody of the Senate. It was the body that released an arrest order against the former Mayor. However, a graft and corruption case was filed against her at a Tarlac court and she had to be under the custody of the PNP.
The former Mayor stayed in the detention facility of the PNP in Camp Crame. Meanwhile, the Court allowed her to attend Senate hearings as well as inquiries set by the House of Representatives.
Guo is facing allegations about her supposed involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations. She’s also questioned about her identity. The former Mayor’s fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003.
However, in the recent hearings, Alice Guo continuously claim that she is a Filipino. She also did not confirm if she is Guo Hua Ping. According to her, her father is a Chinese citizen while her mother is a natural-born Filipino and she is a Filipino.
The former Mayor also continuously denied being involved in the illegal POGO operations. She even claimed that before she was arrested in Indonesia, she was already planning to go home to the Philippines and face the complaints and issues against her.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Alice Guo is facing a non-bailable case and the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 167 ruled for her transfer from Camp Crame to Pasig City Jail Female Dormintory.
