Alice Guo Asserts Filipino Citizenship, She Doesn’t Eat Hopia

Former Mayor Alice Guo Attends House Hearing

ALICE GUO – The former Bamban, Mayor asserted at a House hearing that she is a Filipino and that she does not eat hopia.

Former Mayor Guo was arrested by the Indonesian authorities in a rented apartment in Jakarta, Indonesia. She reportedly left the Philippines in July and then went to Malaysia then to Singapore and Indonesia.

Guo was able to leave the Philippines although her name was on the immigration lookout bulletin and multiple complaints were filed against her. According to the Bureau of Immigration, there were no records that she passed by the immigration.

Alice’s supposed sister, Shiela Guo, claimed that they departed the Philippines through “a small boat”. According to her, they had a long travel and transferred across three (3) boats to get to Malaysia.

Shiela was detained in Indonesia and sent back to the Philippines together with Cassandra Ong who is facing allegations of POGO involvment in Porac, Pampanga. Shiela is under the custody of the Senate while Cassandra was sent to the House of Representatives.

Shiela claimed that she and Alice are not biological sisters. Cassandra denied being involved in illegal POGO. According to her, she works for the Whirlwind Corp., the company that allegedly leased the building to the Lucky South 99, the raided illegal POGO hub.

Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia and she was turned over to the Philippine authorities. Currently, the former Bamban Mayor is under the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP) after a graft case was filed against her by a court.

Recently, Alice Guo showed up at a hearing at the House of Representatives. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, at the inquiry, she insisted that she is a Filipino. Her claim is amid her statement that her father is Chinese while her mother is Filipino.

Representative Bienvenido Abante Jr. explained that having parents with different nationalities, Alice had the chance to decide if she will be a Chinese citizen or a Filipino citizen. The former Bamban Mayor agreed to it but did not directly answer him if she chose to be a Filipino.

“Ever since po alam ko po na ako ay isang Filipino po,” Guo said.

Based on the report, Alice Guo was allowed by Abante to ask her lawyer and she said that she is a Filipino as her mother is a natural-born Filipino. At the House hearing, the Representative offer the former Mayor a piece of hopia but she refused.

Abante told Guo that she is a Chinese but she does not eat hopia. He also raised a question citing that he is a Filipino but he eats hopia.

“Ako po siguro ‘yung Filipino… hindi po ako kumakain ng hopia,” the former Mayor said.

At the House hearing, Alice Guo was also asked about the possibility of running for mayor again in the Midterm Elections 2025.
