Actress Claudine Barretto is asking for prayers for her mother Estrella “Inday” Barretto who was diagnosed with lupus.
On Monday, actress Claudine Barretto shared a photo taken inside a hospital, and in the caption, she revealed the real story about her mother’s current condition. Estrella Castelo Barretto or Mommy Inday as fondly called by the public, has lupus and this was revealed by the actress.
Claudine said that her 87-year-old mom had been in the hospital for over a week and she’s been taking care of her along with her brothers and sister-in-law. She asked for prayers for Mommy Inday and for herself as well.
“Palanggas pls pray for my Mom. More than a week na sya sa hospital & is 87years old with lupus. I need all your prayers pls. She is the only parent i have left,” she said in the caption of her post.
According to Mayo Clinic, lupus is a “disease that occurs when your body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs (autoimmune disease)”. The inflammation can affect different body systems such as joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.
Its most distinctive symptom is a facial rash that looks like the wings of a butterfly. There’s no cure for lupus but there are treatments available to manage the symptoms.
She also asked for prayers for herself. She’s now down to 97 pounds as she’s not been sleeping and eating due to the current condition of her mother.

As mentioned by the actress, Mommy Inday is her only parent alive. In 2019, Miguel Barretto died and he was 82 at that time. He left behind his wife Estrella “Inday” Barretto and 7 children: Mito, Michelle, Joaquin, Gia, Gretchen, Marjorie, and Claudine.
