Sen. Risa Hontiveros Says More Victims Willing to Testify VS Apollo Quiboloy

APOLLO QUIBOLOY – Senator Risa Hontiveros said more victims are willing to testify against Filipino pastor and the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Apollo Quiboloy.

Senator Risa Hontiveros stated on Friday that more claimed victims of Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), are eager to testify against him in the Senate. “Papaharapin natin si Quiboloy at mga kapwa niya akusado sa Senado,” the senator said in a statement.

“Maraming biktima pa ang gustong mag-testigo para ipaglaban ang kanilang pagkatao, ang kanilang dignidad, at ang buong katotohanan,” she added.

On Wednesday, Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo also claimed they are gathering fresh testimonies and pieces of evidence after being approached by a new batch of victims, who revealed terrible details.

According to Fajardo, Quiboloy allegedly told the victims—some of whom were as young as 12 or 13 years old—that they would remain “pure” and “intact” because they had s*x with “the spirit of God.”

Additionally, Quiboloy is said to have told the victims that if they violate the rule of secrecy, an “Angel of death” will go after them.

One of Quiboloy’s purported victims, going by the moniker “Amanda,” testified before Hontiveros’ panel in January. She is the first to come forward publicly with allegations of Quiboloy’s alleged s*xual abuses.

The senator thanked “Amanda” for her courage which she said “inspired more victim-survivors to fight for justice.”

“Siya ang isa sa unang nag-testify in public, sa pamamagitan ng Senado, para isiwalat ang sistematikong panggagahasa, pang-aabuso, at pananamantala ni Quiboloy,” she said.

Quiboloy, along with four associates—Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemanes—were arrested on September 8 at the KJC compound in Davao City. They have been held at the PNP custodial center since. Another individual, Paulene Canada, was arrested in July.

Quiboloy and his co-accused are facing human trafficking charges in a Pasig City court, as well as child abuse charges in Quezon City. On Friday, Quiboloy, who refers to himself as the “appointed Son of God,” pleaded not guilty to the human trafficking charges during his first court appearance in Pasig.
