Rodrigo Duterte Takes Control of Pastor Quiboloy’s Assets Amid Ongoing Legal Disputes
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Former President Rodrigo Duterte took control of the assets of religious leader Apollo Quiboloy amid legal battles.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), was arrested by the Philippine National Police (PNP) following over two weeks of intensified search efforts at the KOJC compound in Davao City.
PNP officers even drilled within the compound, suspecting that Quiboloy might be hiding in a bunker. This drilling, particularly near the Jose Maria College building, raised concerns among KOJC members.
Based on a report from Philstar, former President Rodrigo Duterte has assumed control of Quiboloy’s assets, as the pastor is a known supporter. Meanwhile, KOJC is tightening its finances due to an extended freeze order on Quiboloy’s bank accounts, real estate, and other assets. The Court of Appeals has prolonged this freeze until February 6, 2025, as part of the ruling by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
Initially, a 20-day freeze was placed on August 7 after the appellate court found grounds in cases of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and financial crimes filed against Quiboloy and four others. This extension of the freeze limits funding for KOJC’s operations, including its church, Jose Maria College, and construction of the 75,000-seat Kingdome.

According to the report, the freeze applies to Quiboloy’s 10 bank accounts at Banco de Oro and Metrobank, as well as seven properties across various cities in Mindanao. It also covers KOJC assets, Sonshine Media Network International, and 10 individuals allegedly linked to Quiboloy’s activities.
KOJC’s legal counsel, Israelito Torreon, acknowledged the need to comply with the court’s order. Duterte has yet to comment on the situation.
Quiboloy and his co-accused—Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, Jacklyn Roy, and Sylvia Cemanes—were flown to Manila on Sunday night after week-long negotiations between the KOJC board and the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP). On Monday, Quiboloy’s legal team filed a petition to transfer him and his co-accused from the PNP custodial center at Camp Crame to ISAFP’s detention facility at Camp Aguinaldo.
Torreon also mentioned that Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib played a role in facilitating the surrender negotiations.
