Senator Hontiveros revealed Guo escaped and was able to leave the country on July 17. She went to Malaysia and met with her parents in Singapore but was arrested in Indonesia.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos reiterated that no special treatment has been applied to the fugitive amid the buzz regarding the smiling selfie with Guo.

About her escape

According to Alice, they first boarded a yacht and the travel time before they were transferred to a bigger boat took a few hours. In the bigger boat, they stayed there for a few days and after that, they boarded another boat again that took them to Malaysia.

She wrote the name of the person who facilitated her escape but up until now, the name was not publicized yet. As per the information from his office, Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada shared that this person is currently in Taiwan and possesses five passports.

In her statement, Alice expressed that the moment they boarded the big boat, she felt scared and was already thinking of backing out if there was just an opportunity. She quipped, “Nakakatakot po talaga.”

When asked why she did not do so if she could, she expressed that this was her mistake.

Regarding Guo’s flee, Hontiveros believed that there was a Filipino or Philippine government official who helped the dismissed mayor. This was after Guo revealed during a hearing that no Filipino government official aided her in her escape. The senator doubted this remark.
