KOJC Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Presented as Detainee at Camp Crame During Press Conference

Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), was presented as a detainee at Camp Crame during a press conference in Quezon City.

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the Philippine National Police announced that Quiboloy had been given a 24-hour ultimatum to surrender. The ultimatum warned that police authorities would enter the KOJC compound in Davao City if he did not turn himself in within the specified time.

Around 5:30 p.m., Quiboloy reportedly turned himself in to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, weeks after authorities began searching the KOJC compound.

The negotiations for his surrender involved Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes. By approximately 9:10 p.m., Quiboloy was brought to Camp Crame in Quezon City.

According to Fajardo, the negotiations for a peaceful surrender began around 1:30 p.m. The authorities had given Quiboloy an ultimatum to surrender within 24 hours, and the operation was a joint effort between the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

However, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. clarified that Quiboloy did not voluntarily surrender but was arrested. The President suggested that Quiboloy had no choice but to turn himself in as the police were closing in on him.

On Monday, September 9, 2024, during a press conference at Camp Crame, Quiboloy, along with other accused individuals, was officially presented as a detainee. The 74-year-old religious leader faces charges for alleged violations of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act, as well as qualified human trafficking.

Authorities had been attempting to serve arrest warrants since August 24, 2024, but were unable to do so due to Quiboloy’s unknown location. His camp has consistently denied the allegations against him.
