Are the threats real? PAOCC doubts the claims of Alice Guo.
Arrested former mayor Alice Guo claimed that she received death threats but PAOCC has this to say about this.
If she will cooperate, former Bamban mayor Alice Guo can become a state witness following her return to the country should she reveal the mastermind behind illegal activities of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs). As much as we all know, Guo is being investigate due to her alleged link to illegal POGO activities.
On top of this, her nationality was also under investigation as she was elected mayor despite being a Chinese national named Guo Hua Ping. It was proven that her fingerprint matched that of Guo Hua Ping.
Previously, Guo was arrested in Indonesia as the authorities were able to trace her. She returned to the Philippines within the deadline given by the Indonesian government and as per President Bongbong Marcos, no prisoner swap has happened.
After meeting the interior secretary, she immediately sought help claiming she was receiving death threats. This was accordingly the reason why Guo left the Philippines, because of the threats.
In a recent report, Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio casted doubts over the former mayor’s claims. However, despite their doubt, they are still going to look into this matter seriously.
“Tignan natin kung may katotohanan ba o wala kasi kung threat lang ang paguusapan dapat mas matakot ang mga nag tatrabaho para masawata sila. Alangan naman ipapatay sya ng sarili nyang ama,” said the spokesperson during an interview on Teleradyo Serbisyo on Saturday.
Warren Wu and Xiang Dian were reportedly among the people who facilitated Guo’s escape and they should also be investigated. It also appears that these two are from far threatening her life as she was seen in the airport with Wu and Dian paid for the hotel.
Apart from PAOCC, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is also investigating her claim which, according to her, was the reason why she fled. As for PNP, it is their duty to protect the people who are in this situation and they can’t possibly ignore Guo’s case considering that hers was high-profile.
