According to Alice Guo, this is the reason why she left the Philippines.
Former mayor Alice Guo presented as a detainee revealed the reason why she escaped and left the Philippines amid the investigation.
Philippine authorities on early Friday morning have presented dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo as a detainee to the media. This was after they fetch her from Indonesia from where she was arrested. She was wearing an orange shirt with the words “CIDG detainee”.
Guo was arrested in Indonesia and was seized by the Indonesian authorities after 18 days of searching.
“May death threats, humingi ako ng tulong sa ka nila. Masaya ako… I feel safe,” Guo said after seeing the PH authorities based on a previous article. As much as we all know, Guo left the country in July which was amid a Senate investigation regarding her alleged link to the illegal activities of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) in her town and her background.
She is believed to be a Chinese national named Guo Hua Ping and is facing numerous complaints. She was ordered arrested by the Senate after repeated failure to attend the hearings, facing human trafficking complaints filed before the Department of Justice, several counts of money laundering, and an arrest warrant issued by a Tarlac court for violating the Section 3(e) and 3(h) of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
Why did she escape?
According to the authorities, they were told that the former mayor fears for her life. She felt scared and unsafe here in the Philippines the reason why she flee and seek refuge abroad amid the ongoing investigation.
Guo told Benhur Abalos about her death threats. Abalos is the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary and she told him about this when they met for the first time in Jakarta.
Abalos told Teleradyo Serbisyo, “Ang sinabi niya natakot siya. May mga sinabi siyang mga bagay-bagay, masasamang tao, about her security. Kaya ang sabi ko sa kanya, next time wag ka ng umalis.”
She also told him that she had a hard time hiding and expressed that she would never do that again.

Kung takot sa mga “death threats” why doesn’t she hire her own security since she has the means to pay for her own security. This Guo issue is a distraction in time and monetary resources for our country which are better spent for more worthy causes. I realize there has to be due process pero imbestiga nang imbestiga wala namang pertinent consequences . . . (?!). Kung i-incarcerate, gasto na naman yon sa gobierno. Why not impose on her corresponding fines for her offenses and deport her to China? Her actions blatantly shouts out that her allegiance and loyalty is with China.
we love dramas and this is a perfect example, everybody on the band wagon. it does not matter that we have laws we just need to impose, everybody strut infront of the voters “in aid of reelection”. what we are not doing is identify the people behind all these dramas and using our investigative skills if any and prosecute suspects and not badger these people infront of a nationwide audience..
