MARC PINGRIS – Former PBA star Marc Pingris reflected on his humble beginnings as a market vendor.

Marc Pingris is a retired Filipino professional basketball player, widely regarded as one of the best defenders and power forwards in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was born on October 16, 1981, in Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, Philippines. His full name is Jean Marc Pingris Jr., and he has French descent through his father.

Pingris grew up in a humble family and faced financial struggles during his childhood. Despite this, he found his passion for basketball at a young age. His contributions to the sport, both in the PBA and for the national team, have made him a basketball icon in the Philippines. He is affectionately known as the “Pinoy Sakuragi,” a reference to the popular character from the anime Slam Dunk.

He is married to actress Danica Sotto, daughter of TV host and actor Vic Sotto. The couple has two children. Since retiring, Pingris has ventured into business, TV appearances, and continues to be involved in basketball through coaching and mentoring young players.
