This is the reason why Sen. Robin Padilla stopped the hearing showbiz harassment issue
Senator Robin Padilla, who leads the Committee on Public Information and Mass Media, announced that the Senate hearing on the showbiz harassment issue will no longer continue.
Padilla’s committee intended to discuss the “Policies of Television Networks and Artist Management Agencies in Relation to Complaints of Abuse and Harassment.” This led to the investigation of the alleged harassment that Kapuso actor Sandro Muhlach experienced from GMA independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard Cruz.
Eventually, singer-actor Gerald Santos was invited. He revealed the identity of the musical director, Danny Tan, who allegedly abused him when he was just 15 years old.

On Wednesday, September 4, based on the report from The Philippine Star, Sen. Robin Padilla decided to no longer continue the Senate hearing on the alleged harassment incidents that are happening in showbiz.
He cited that this has become a sensationalized issue already which leads to no direction. The Senator also said that if this continues, they will just spend the citizens’ money.
“Wala na pong maitutulong ang pagiging sensationalized ng paksa na ito, kung hahayaan pa nating magsalita pa ang nag-rereklamo at hahayaan din nating magsalita pabalik ang rinereklamo, naga-aksaya lang tayo ng pera ng taumbayan,” the lawmaker said.

The hearings started on August 7 and after five sessions, Padilla said that the Senate is not a court of law and cannot determine if the accused is guilty or innocent. Following these hearings, the lawmaker said that he was able to file Senate Bill 2772. This intends to impose heavier charges, including the death penalty, for r@pe convicts.
Sen. Robin Padilla is yet to adjourn the inquiry but he said that this will come to a conclusion soon. He also encouraged legal experts with suggestions on the proposed laws to approach him.
