Grade 6 Students in Cebu Brings Good Vibes Online Over Impressive Rendition of “Maybe This Time”

A class of Grade 6 students from Don Vicente Rama Memorial Elementary School in Cebu went viral for their impressive rendition of the song “Maybe This Time.”

On August 30, 2024, Morishka Nicole Uy, a Facebook user, shared a video of her students singing a popular song while they were writing notes in class. The video quickly circulated online and garnered various reactions from the online community.

Teacher Morishka shared that the students had finished their activities early that Friday and requested to play some music. One student suggested “Maybe This Time,” and the class effortlessly sang along.

The song, originally popularized by Sarah Geronimo and later given a new twist by a Grade 10 student from Zamboanga, Ralp Xyrel Villaruz, became the perfect choice for a relaxed end to their school week.

“Nagkokopya po sila ng notes and then nagrequest po sila na magplay ng music. May isa nagsabi na ‘Maybe This Time.’ Maaga po kami natapos sa mga activities and it’s also Friday. Kadalasan kasi pag Friday binibigyan ko ang mga bata ng time na nakapag-relax,” Morishka said.

The video shows the students harmonizing beautifully, despite being in the middle of their Araling Panlipunan lesson. Teacher Morishka mentioned that she often tries to make her lessons more engaging, especially when teaching subjects like history.

Allowing students to unwind with music is one of the ways she helps them enjoy their time in class. She also ensured that their singing didn’t disrupt nearby classrooms. Since their classroom was air-conditioned, the door was closed, and the students were singing softly.

Currently, no complaints have been made by other classes about their musical break.

“My classroom’s closed because it’s airconditioned. Hindi po maingay sa labas. They are also singing gently. So far, never pa pong nagreklamo yung ibang teachers/students from other sections,” she added.
