Pres. Bongbong Marcos Thanks Indonesian Authorities for Aid on Alice Guo’s Arrest
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President gave a statement on the arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia.
The arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia gave hope to countless Filipinos that justice is still valued in the Philippines. The former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac was able to leave the country amid accusations of her alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town and her questionable identity.
According to the National Bureau of Investigation, the fingerprints matching between former Mayor Guo and Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national, suggest that they are the same person. Based on records, Guo Hua Ping entered the country in 2003.
Shortly after it was confirmed that Alice Guo has left the Philippines, her supposed sister, Shiela Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong who is also facing allegations of illegal POGO operations involvement, were detained in Indonesia.
Shiela Guo and Cassandra Ong were sent by the Indonesian authorities back to the Philippines. The former is now under the custody of the Senate while the latter was sent to the House of Representatives.
Shiela claimed that Alice is actually not her sister. According to her, she fled the Philippines with Alice and Wesley through “a small boat” and they transferred to two (2) more boats before they got to Malaysia.
Alice reportedly went to Singapore and then to Indonesia. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian alerted the ASEAN ambassadors about the case of the former Mayor.
Alice Guo was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia. Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos released a statement over the arrest of the former Mayor. Through a video posted on social media, he announced the arrest of the former Mayor and congratulated the law enforcement authorities involved in the process.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos also expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Government for the assistance that they extended on the arrest of Alice Guo. In his video message, the Chief Executive also included a stern warning to those who try to escape justice.
Aside from Pres. Marcos, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero has also given a statement on the arrest of Alice Guo. According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the authorities are already talking about the turn-over of former Mayor Guo.
Reportedly, Guo will be under the custody of the Senate once she’s back in the Philippines.
