Waiter Files Complaint Against Jude Bacalso After Making Him Stand for 2 Hours as Punishment
The viral waiter who was made to stand for two hours has officially filed a complaint against LGBTQIA+ writer Jude Bacalso.
The waiter, R-Jay Marcilla, claims that he was forced to stand for nearly two hours as Bacalso lectured him on gender sensitivity after he mistakenly addressed her as “sir” instead of “ma’am.”
The incident reportedly took place while Bacalso was dining at the restaurant where Marcilla worked. The situation worsened when Bacalso, unhappy with being called “sir,” allegedly demanded that Marcilla remain standing while she delivered a lengthy lecture on proper gender pronouns. The incident left a lasting impact on him, both mentally and emotionally.
The Cabrido and Law Firm state that Marcilla is still struggling to cope with the aftermath of the encounter. His lawyer, Atty. Ron Ivan Gingoyon, explained that Marcilla has been finding it difficult to resume his normal life and return to work due to the trauma he experienced.
“As of now, the victim is still traumatized but is trying to co-exist with society. We’re also helping him but the effect (of the incident) to his mental health was significant,” said Gingoyon.
Marcilla has filed five charges against Bacalso: Unjust Vexation, Grave Scandal, Grave Coercion, Grave Threats, and Slight Illegal Detention. These charges were formally submitted on August 28, 2024, with support from witnesses who were present during the incident at the restaurant.
Bacalso has not issued a statement regarding the charges filed against her. Marcilla continues to receive support from his legal team as he faces the ongoing legal process and works to recover from the incident.
