Is Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto interested in running for senator?
In an interview, Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto shares his thoughts about running for a higher office in the 2025 elections.
One of the well-commended and admired mayors in the Philippines is Vico Sotto, the mayor of Pasig City. He is the son of celebrities Vic Sotto and Conney Reyes. His career might be different from that of his parents but the two remained connected. There’s just a thin line between politics and show business.
The Pasig City mayor is now 35 years old and he’s among those who topped the senatorial survey in the first quarter of 2024 along with other politicians such as former President Rodrigo Duterte, boxing champ and ex-senator Manny Pacquiao, and other incumbent and former lawmakers.
In an interview, the mayor was asked about running for a higher position, specifically, in the senate. In simple terms, he responded, “Wala akong interes.”
He did not elaborate anymore due to lack of words on how to expound this but he added, “Anong gagawin ko dun?”
The current Pasig mayor expressed that he is not completely interested in running for senator in 2025. In a previous interview, he shared that there were “feelers” but no one really offered yet for him to join a senatorial line-up for the 2025 elections.
Basically speaking, zero interest in running for a higher position. He still wants to focus on achieving his mission in Pasig and that is “to bring true, genuine reform; to fight for good governance” and this mission is not yet done.
Watch below:
Previously, Vico confronted the Pasig protest leader. The protest was against the building of new city call which costs billions. Also, earlier this month, at least 2 graft cases were filed against him. These are for the alleged procurement of millions-worth of commemorative shirts and the 100 percent discount grant on tax dues and penalties for a telecommunications company.
