Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian Speaks on Former Mayor Alice Guo
SHERWIN GATCHALIAN – The Senator revealed that he has already talked with the ASEAN ambassadors and he’s confident Alice Guo will be arrested.
Several complainst were filed against former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo but she was still able to leave the Philippines. Guo departing the country also happened amid her being on the immigration lookout bulletin as well.
Guo is accused of alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in her town. Her identity is also in question amid her fingerprints matching the fingerprints of Guo Hua Ping, a Chinese national.
The Senate has released an arrest order against Guo after she skipped two hearings set by the upper chamber. However, the authorities found only negative presence after visiting all her registered addresses in the pursuit of serving the arrest order.
Guo reportedly left the country last July 17 and arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in July 18. According to the authorities, she moved to Singapore to meet her family and flew to Indonesia.
Sheila Guo, the sister of Alice, and Cassandra Li Ong were detained in Indonesia and sent back to the Philippines. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian is also confident that former Mayor Alice Guo will also be arrested in Indonesia.
Based on a report on GMA News, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian confirmed that he has already talked to the ASEAN ambassadors and the enforcement agencies of the Southeast Asian countries were already prompted about former Mayor Alice Guo.
“Mahihirapan na siya gumalaw dito sa Southeast Asia,” Gatchalian said.
The Philippine National Police is also hopeful that former Mayor Alice Guo will share the same fate with her sister and Cassandra Li Ong who were detained and sent back to the Philippines. It is hoping for a “positive development” in the case.
According to the lawyer of former Mayor Guo, his client has not communicated with him for several days now. It was just a couple of days ago when Attorney Stephen David was hopeful that his client will surrender to the authorities and that they are confident that they can defend her.
