The singer himself became a Christmas icon because of his Christmas songs just hits right through the hearts of many people. Filipino Christmas will not be the way it’s always been without his songs.
In a video posted on various social media platforms which have accumulated millions of views, he got emotional as he sang his song. Chan was emotional that it made many people worried and wondering why he felt that way.
Some are worried but all of them appreciated the singer mentioning how Chan is one of the Christmas symbols in the country. Others who are watching him also became emotional as it also gave them the feels as well.
Recently, the singer spoke about this viral moment and shared an explanation. During his interview with Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras”, he attended this Christmas tree lighting ceremony at a mall. As he sang his other songs, the people watching him particularly requested “Christmas in Our Hearts” for him to sing.
“Sabi ko, ‘It’s only July!’ Buti na lang, I had my minus one, and when I began to sing, the whole audience sang along, so I was deeply touched and moved by the spontaneity of the people, young and old alike,” he said.
It was a touching moment for him as the people, both young and old, loved his song. They were singing with him and such spontaneity has moved him to tears.
As for the title given to him being a Christmas icon such as “Father of Christmas Carols” and “King of Christmas Carols”, he feels like they don’t need them as for him, he is just your regular Filipino singer-songwriter.
