Gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar Breaks Silence on Homecoming Events Absence

GYMNAST – Levi Jung-Ruivivar who represented the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Olympics admitted feeling hurt as she was not invited in the homecoming events.

Several athletes represented the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Undeniably, the country’s performance in the Olympics this year is its best performance so far. It landed on the 37th spot out of over 200 nations participating the event with its four (4) Olympic medals.

Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo bagged two (2) Olympic gold medals in men’s floor exercise and vault events. Pinay boxers Neshty Petecio and Aira Villegas won bronze medals for the country.

The Philippines is the best-performing Southeast Asian country in the 2024 Olympics. Yulo is the first Filipino athlete to win two (2) gold medals in the same Olympics.

The Philippine government and several private entities were quick to show their appreciation of the pride and honor that Carlos Yulo has given the country. There were several rewards for her.

Toyota pledged to give Carlos Yulo a Land Cruiser Prado while Megaworld gave Carlos a three-bedroom fully-furnished condo unit in McKinley Hills in Taguig. It is worth Php 32 million.

A homecoming dinner with President Bongbong Marcos was prepared for the Filipino athletes who represented PH in the Olympics. The office of Pres. Marcos also gave each of the Filipino athletes Php 1 million each.

However, based on a recent claim of a gymnast who also represented the Philippines in the 2024 Paris Olympics, not all of the athletes who represented the country in the biggest sports event that was held in Paris were able to join the homecoming events.

In a post on social media, Levi Jung-Ruivivar admitted that she was really hurt that she missed the chance to be part of the homecoming events. She claimed that she was told that it was only for the medalists.

The gymast claimed that she asked Mrs. Cynthia Carrion, the president of the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), about the dinner with Pres. Marcos but she told her that it was only for Carlos, Petecio, and Villegas. She attached a copy of their conversation in her post.

Levi stressed that she was really surprise when she saw that the Filipino Olympics had a dinner with Pres. Bongbong Marcos except for her, Emma Malabuyo, and Aleah Finnegan. They also missed the Grand Heroes’ Homecoming Parade in Manila. Here’s her post:

As of this writing, the GAP nor Mrs. Carrion has yet to issue a statement on the matter. It was previously reported that it will be double checked if the Php 1 million cash reward for the athletes includes those who missed the dinner with the President and his family.
