Low-Pressure Area and Habagat to Bring Scattered Rains Over Parts of PH, PAGASA Says

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area will bring scattered rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (August 17, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil reported that a low-pressure area was last spotted at 375 kilometers northnortheast of Itbayat, Batanes. However, the effects of the southwest monsoon will be felt in extreme Northern Luzon.

The southwest monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any parts of the country’s seaboard.
