Carlos Yulo Surprises Young Gymnast on ‘Eat Bulaga’ with ‘Lucky Charm’ Chalk Box

CARLOS YULO – Filipino double Olympic gymnastics champion Carlos Yulo delighted a young fan by sharing his “lucky charm” chalk box with her.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo made a surprise appearance on the set of “Eat Bulaga” after his homecoming parade. He delighted a young gymnast by sharing his “lucky charm” chalk box with her.

During the show’s “Dear Eat Bulaga” segment on Thursday, August 15, gymnast Jezzy had wished for new leotards for her gymnastics training. After receiving the gifts, the TV hosts called Yulo from backstage, bringing the young gymnast to tears.

Expressing gratitude to his supporters, Carlos Yulo said, “Maraming maraming salamat po sa pagdadasal at pagsuporta niyo sa amin. Ang panalo po namin ay panalo nating lahat.”

The athlete also shared his happiness over the growing recognition of gymnastics in the Philippines, saying, “Ngayon nare-recognize na siya sa Pilipinas at maraming bata na po ‘yung nagkakagusto at gustong sumubok.”

In addition to Jezzy, members of the Manila Gymnastics team also congratulated Yulo, presenting congratulatory banners for the Olympic gold medalist. Several young gymnasts from Bataan also performed for Yulo.

Carlos Yulo offered advice not only to athletes but to students and dreamers as well. He said, “Hindi lang po sa mga atleta, para sa mga estudyante, mga nangangarap sa buhay, mga nagta-trabaho, tuloy-tuloy niyo lang po ‘yung pangarap niyo as long as wala tayong inaapakang tao at mabuti tayong tao,” he advised. “Magpasalamat sa Diyos talaga. May darating talaga na nakalaan sa atin. Keep going and enjoy natin ‘yung process kasi do’n tayo maggo-grow.”

During his appearance, Yulo also reminisced about joining the “Kakaibang Bida” talent segment of “Eat Bulaga” when he was nine years old, though he didn’t win at the time.

“That time po kasi medyo boring din po ‘yung pinakita ko,” Caloy laughingly recalled, to which TV host Tito Sotto quipped, “Hindi pumasa? Sinong t*ng*ng nag-audition sa’yo?”

Fast forward to today, Caloy has won not just in a TV contest, but in the prestigious Olympics — twice.
