Roxanne Guinoo returns to acting
Star Circle Quest alumna Roxanne Guinoo hoped to have a big break that Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta Maria had.
Roxanne started her showbiz career through the Kapamilya talent search show in which K-pop star Sandara Park rose as the winner. For a period of time, Roxanne did some acting stints on TV and in movies.
She left showbiz and became a wife and a mother. Just recently, she was announced as one of the cast members of the upcoming Kapamilya series Lavender Fields.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, Roxanne Guinoo shared that she only has a short appearance in the series but it does something big for the story.
“It’s a very short role, pero may impact,” she said. In the series, she plays the role of Albert Martinez’s wife. Roxanne said that there are a lot of “hugot” in the flashback scenes.
The actress also shared that the veteran actor would give her encouragement while they were shooting. Albert told her to return to acting.
“Sabi kasi ni Tito Albert, ‘Alam mo, bumalik ka na kasi kulang na sa mahuhusay na artista.’ Sabi ko nga, ‘Talaga ba, Tito Albert, kino-consider mo ako?’ Kasi, wala pa po akong napo-prove,’” she said.
Roxanne said that she was challenged by what Albert said to her. Even though she is already 38 years old now, just a couple of years until she reaches 40, she is hopeful that her big break is just around the corner.
The actress cited the career path that Jodi Sta Maria had. “Si Ate Jodi, noon, lagi lang siyang best friend ng bida. … Hindi siya sumuko. Ako rin, bakit hindi ko susubukan?” she said.
Jodi had supporting roles and often played the best friend of the female lead in the past. However, she was given a chance to play the leading lady role in the series Please Be Careful With My Heart in 2012 and that boosted her career as a lead actress in her next projects.
Roxanne Guinoo said that she is using her past experience in the roles that she is playing.
