In the Philippines, there were notable instances when lawmakers expressed their desire for moves that could benefit the health of the Filipino citizenry. Years ago, in the upper chamber, Senator Cynthia Villar voiced out her concern on the effects of eating too much rice.
The reminder of Sen. Villar came amid countless restaurants that give their customers an access to unlimited rice. The lawmaker stressed that eating too much rice can lead to high blood sugar levels.
Villar previously called out the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of Health (DoH) to make sure that their programs align under the pursuit of promoting better nutrition and health among the Filipinos.
