The Philippine National Police said that they want to increase police visibility in the National Capital Region (NCR) thus, 75 PNP cops had to be relieved. According to PNP chief Rommel Francisco Marbil, they don’t see any threat in the life of the Vice President.

Marbil stressed that the Vice President is loved by the Filipinos. Duterte assured the public that the removal of some of the PNP cops assigned for her security will not affect her work.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte told her allies and supporters not to worry about her safety. Meanwhile, Duterte appealed for the protection of her family. She issued an open letter for PNP chief Rommel Marbil.

In her open letter, Vice Pres. Duterte refuted the claim of PNP chief Marbil that the Philippine National Police made a request to the Office of the Vice President over the recall of 75 cops assigned to her. According to the Vice President, the OVP was only informed.

Previously, PNP chief Marbil revealed that 358 AFP personnel and 31 cops secure the safety of the Vice President. However, the said revelation sparked questions on the budget for Sara Duterte’s security. Many Filipinos believe that the security of the Vice President is too much.

Manila Rep. Joel Chua

A Manila solon believes that the budget for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s security must be checked. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Manila Rep. Joel Chua said in a news forum that the country is “spending too much for the security of one family”.

“Dapat tingnan din natin kung saan talaga napupunta yung budget dahil ito ay pera ng taong bayan,” Chua said.

According to the lawmaker, 100 soldiers are enough to secure the safety of Vice Pres. Duterte and her family. Based on the report, he raised a question on how many security is really needed for one family. According to him, there is nothing wrong as long as they can justify the fund.

“Hindi naman tayo para mang-ipit ng tao. Ang gusto lang natin ma-justify,” he said.
