Mother of Carlos Yulo, Angelica Yulo, Speaks on Controversial FB Post about Japanese Gymnast
ANGELICA YULO – The mother of Carlos Yulo explained her Facebook post about a Japanese gymnast which was given meaning by netizens.
Carlos Yulo brought so much pride to Filipinos with his double gold win in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is the first male athlete to give the country an Olympic gold medal and the first Filipino athlete to have a back-to-back win in the Olympics.
Yulo won two (2) Summer Games in the 2024 Olympics held in Paris, France. His first gold win was in men’s floor exercise. The following day since he bagged his first Olympic gold medal, Caloy hit another gold in men’s vault events.
The Philippine government and several private entities can’t await to reward Carlos Yulo for the pride and honor he has brought the Philippines in the international sports arena. At least Php 33 million cash rewards await the Filino gymnast.
Megaworld vowed to give Carlos Yulo a Php 32-million worth condo unit with furnitures and fixtures. He is also set to receive a house and lot in Tagaytay and unlimited access in Vikings Restaurant.
However, aside from the winning of Caloy in the Olympics and the jaw-dropping rewards that await him in his return to the Philippines, there are also other reports mentioning him — these are about his personal issues with his mother, Angelica Yulo.
It has been unveiled to the public that Angelica and Caloy have money issues. He claimed that her mother used his cash incentives without his consent. Carlos also said that his mother disapproves his relationship with his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose.
Angelica Yulo held a press conference on August 7 at Heroes Hotel in Manila. According to her, she did it as she wants the issue between her and son Carlos to be put to rest. She recognized that their family issues should have been resolved within them and not unveiled to the public.
The mother of Caloy apologized to him. She also congratulated her son for his wins in the Olympics. However, when asked if she is willing unblock him on Messenger after she admitted that she has blocked her son and unfriended him on social media, she did not give a definite answer.
During the press conference that was livestreamed by several media networks, Angelica Yulo also explained her controversial Facebook post showing support to a Japanese gymnast. According to the mother of Carlos Yulo, she did not intend to throw shade or hurt her son through the said post.
The mother of Carlos Yulo explained that she knew Oka through his other son, Karl Eldrew, who is also a gymnast. The said Japanese gymnast was with his son Eldrew in a training camp in Japan. Then, the Japanese gymnast was only 19 years old.
“Gusto ko lang ipaalam sa mga anak ko na ito ang gawin nilang motivation, para ma-boost rin yung confidence nila,” Angelica said.
Angelica Yulo further clarified that she was surprised that Oka was only 19 years old and it was his first time to join the Olympics when he won the individual all-around. She stressed that it was not intended to degrade Caloy and she did not think that other people will give her post a different meaning.
During the press conference, the mother of Carlos Yulo admitted that she has blocked her son on Messenger and she has not posted anything about him since they had an issue.
