PAGASA Says Habagat and Localized Thunderstorms to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that habagat will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Wednesday (August 7, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA expert Obet Badrina reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Central, Southern Luzon, and the Visayas. A low-pressure area was spotted 575 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

“Sa ngayon ang pinakanakakaapekto sa ating bansa ay ang southwest monsoon or habagat at ito ang magdadala ng pag-ulan sa may western section ng at Central at Southern Luzon,” said Badrina.

Another tropical depression is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It was located 2,005 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and is almost stationary. It has a slim chance of entering the country’s vicinity.

“Wala direktang epekto sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa itong tropical depression na nasa sa labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility at maliit din ang tiyansang ito’y pumasok ng PAR,” Badrina added.

Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

The southwest monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Mimaropa.

The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the rest of the country.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern Luzon and the remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
