Olympic Double Gold Medalist Carlos Yulo Defends Girlfriend against Mom
CARLOS YULO – The Olympics double gold medalist gave a message for his mother, Angelica Yulo, amid their rift on money issues.
For the first time in the history of the Philippines, a Filipino athlete has secured not just one but two gold medals in the Olympics. It was not a reality under Carlos Yulo hit gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Caloy got his first gold medal after scoring 15.00 in men’s floor exercise. It was a moment of victory not only for the Filipino gymnast but the entire Filipino nation. The Philippine national anthem being played in the arena brought countless people goosebumps.
Philippine President Bongbong Marcos was right that it was not Carlos Yulo’s last Olympic gold medal. On Sunday, he won another gold medal in men’s vault events.
The winning of Caloy in men’s vault events is something that he did not expect. According to him, he only wished to be safe and for no one to get injured from their performances.
Carlos Yulo is the first Olympic double gold medalist of the Philippines and the first male athlete to bring home Olympic gold medals. At least P33 million cash rewards await Caloy in his return to the country.
The House of Representatives is set to give Carlos Php 6 million cash reward for winning two (2) golds in the Olympics. A fundraising for additional cash rewards for Yulo was also initiated by House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Luxurious real-estate giant Megaworld also vowed to give Carlos a Php 32-million worth condo unit with furniture. However, amid his victory, the public feasted on the personal issues between Caloy and his mother after his mother spoke an interview and made claims.
Caloy negated his mother’s claim that his girlfriend, Chloe, is financially dependent on him. He stressed that she has her own money which she uses in her travels. He also revealed that he and his mother have money issues after he was not allegedly informed about the use of his cash incentives.
Angelica Yulo denied the allegation that she overspent his money. The mother of Carlos initially refused to initiate reconciliation with her son. She also expressed that she is happy over his success in the Olympics.
Carlos Yulo broke his silence on the issues between him and his mother. In his statement, he defended his girlfriend Chloe and he also gave a message for his mother. According to Caloy, he has forgiven her and he always wishes for her safety.
“Ang message ko po sa inyo, Ma, na mag-heal kayo, mag-move on, at napatawad ko na kayo a long time ago po. Pinagpe-pray ko na maging safe kayo palagi at nasa maayos kayong kalagayan lahat diyan,” the Olympian said.
