Philippines’ Carlos Yulo Wins 2 Gold Medals in 2024 Paris Olympics
CARLOS YULO – House Speaker Martin Romualdez clarified the amount that the double gold Olympic medalist will receive from the House of Representatives.
The world is currently into the 2024 Olympics held in Paris, France. Several countries set their exceptional athletes to represent their nation in the different sports categories. There are already several athletes who won gold medals at the Olympics for their home countries.
However, in the case of the Philippines’ bet for the men’s floor exercise, Carlos Yulo, he won not only one but two gold medals for the country. His first victory was on Saturday when he made the highest mark in men’s floor exercise which left countless people jaw-dropped.
The Philippines rejoiced over Caloy getting the gold in his event. Many Filipinos were left proud and touched when the Philippine national anthem was played following the gold medal win of the PH bet in floor exercise.
What many Filipinos did not expect is that Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ message to Carlos Yulo about his confidence that it will not be his last gold medal will come true right away. On Sunday, the PH bet won his second Olympics gold medal in men’s artistic gymnastics vault.
The Filipinos were left amazed by Caloy for the great honor that he gave the country. While the 2024 Paris Olympics is still ongoing, PH already assured 4 medals. The other two medals were secured by boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.
Carlos Yulo is the first Filipino to win two gold medals in the Olympics. He also set the mark as the first male athlete to win an Olympic gold medal. Different types of rewards await him back in the Philippines.
The House of Representatives is one of those that pledged to give a reward to Carlos Yulo following his double gold medal win in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The lower chamber has set the following rewards for the Olympic medalists:
- Gold — Php 3 million
- Silver — Php 2 million
- Bronze — Php 1 million
In the case of Carlos Yulo who won two gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics, based on a report on GMA News, House Speaker Martin Romualdez said that Caloy will receive at least Php 6 million from the House of Representatives. The House Speaker stressed that Caloy’s performance at the Olympics “is a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and exceptional skill”.
Aside from the P6 million cash reward from the House of Representatives, Romualdez said that Caloy will also get additional cash incentives from a fundraising campaign that he initiated among his collegues in the lower chamber.
Based on the report, Yulo will also be given a congressional medal for his exceptional achievement and contribution to sports.
