PAGASA Says Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

On Monday (August 5, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that the Southwest Monsoon affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will bring rains over several areas.

Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Mindanao, Cavite, Batangas, the rest of Mimaropa, and Visayas.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. Flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

A low-pressure area was spotted east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. it was last spotted at 1,155 km northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. Another LPA was located outside PAR at 1,310 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

“Itong dalawang LPA na ito ay hindi pa natin inaasahang magiging bagyo, at least base sa huling mga datos na ating nakalap,” said Badrina.

Currently, these LPAs have no direct effect in any part of the country these weather systems could develop into tropical cyclones.

“Base sa pinakahuling datos natin na nakalap, medyo maliit pa yung tsansa na maging bagyo itong dalawang LPA,” he further explained.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition throughout the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
