Angelu De Leon Seeks Mayor Vico Sotto’s Permission Before Joining ‘Pulang Araw’

ANGELU DE LEON – Veteran actress Angelu De Leon revealed she asked Mayor Vico Sotto’s permission before doing ‘Pulang Araw.’

Angelu De Leon plays Carmela Borromeo in “Pulang Araw.” In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Angelu shared that she asked for permission from Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto before taking on her role in the hit GMA series “Pulang Araw.”

In the series, Angelu brings to life the character of Carmela Borromeo, a wealthy Filipina married to Julio Borromeo (played by Epy Quizon), who owns a Vaudeville theater during the American colonial period in the Philippines and the arrival of Japanese invaders in the country.

Besides being an actress, Angelu De Leon is also a councilor of Pasig City, which is why she thought it best to inform their city mayor, Vico, before starting taping.

Angelu told veteran TV host Boy Abunda, “It’s to balance things out because, of course, there are taping schedules that need to be considered. Out of respect for my current job as a Pasig councilor, I needed to ask permission.”

The actress jokingly added, “So he wouldn’t always be wondering, ‘Where is Angelu?’”

According to the report, “Pulang Araw” marks Angelu De Leon’s drama comeback after taking a temporary break from showbiz. According to Angelu, “Pulang Araw” is important as it serves as a tribute to the ancestors and unsung heroes of the country.

She said, “It’s high time for us to be proud to be Filipinos because our ancestors went through a lot, and we have to pay tribute to them, not just to them personally, but also to the unsung heroes whose stories we don’t know but who greatly contributed to our current freedom.”

“Pulang Araw” stars Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, and also features award-winning actor Dennis Trillo.
